Okay, so I haven’t blogged anything in a really long time.\u00a0 But when I started up this little endeavor over a year ago, I told myself that I wouldn’t let it interfere with anything of higher importance, like writing a novel.\u00a0 I’m pretty busy right now, which means any spare time I have is going into my current project, rather than here.<\/p>\n
That being said, I think my current project is going well.\u00a0 I’m closing in on the last 8-10k words, building toward the final conflict and resolution.\u00a0 It’s always the time when I’m most excited to be writing, but also the time when I’m the most nervous.\u00a0 Because the climax is really the moment on which everything rises or falls.\u00a0 It’s the moment that justifies the story.\u00a0 The payoff.\u00a0 If I don’t pull off the ending, nothing of the story preceding it will matter.\u00a0 Writing for me (that is, without an outline) is kind of like making an end-of-the-rainbow journey, hoping to find the pot of gold.\u00a0 But what if you get there, and there isn’t any pot, or any gold?\u00a0 I know that I will have gained something in the journey itself.\u00a0 I’ll have learned more about writing, about the craft.\u00a0 I already feel that this project has expanded me as a writer.\u00a0 But I will have disappointed the story I started out to tell.<\/p>\n
But while we’re on the subject of this particular project, I may have some good news in the coming weeks.\u00a0 Things are developing, but I don’t want to jinx it by talking about it too much.\u00a0 Just send out good vibes for me, okay?<\/p>\n
