As I mentioned in my last post, I’ll be going to BEA this year.\u00a0 Next week, actually.\u00a0 I’ll be doing some speaking, and also some signing at the Scholastic booth.\u00a0 I fly in on Tuesday, and on Wednesday my editor, Lisa Sandell, will be talking about my forthcoming novel, Icefall,<\/em> on the Middle Grade Editors Buzz Panel<\/span><\/a>.\u00a0 Then on Thursday, I’ll be speaking about Icefall<\/em> on an author panel.<\/p>\n

I’m so excited and grateful for the attention being given to this book.\u00a0 And I’m also a bit surprised.\u00a0 As I was writing it, I honestly didn’t know if it was a book anyone would want to publish.\u00a0 I just knew it was a story that wanted to be told, so I did my best to tell it.\u00a0 It’s thrilling to me that it’s getting the kind of exposure it is.<\/p>\n

While I’m in NYC, I’ll be going into the studio to listen to a recording session with Jenna Lamia, the actress reading the Icefall<\/em> audiobook, and then I’ll be recording some “bonus content” of my own (more on that later).\u00a0 I’m also really hoping I can hit the Kidlit Drink Night<\/span><\/a> on Thursday.\u00a0 We’ll see.\u00a0 I expect it to be a busy few days, and I look forward to telling you all about the trip when I get back.<\/p>\n

And the Deseret News interviewed me and Heather Dixon<\/span><\/a> for an article they ran on the Writing and Illustrating for Young Readers Workshop, which you can read here<\/span><\/a>.\u00a0 Most of the workshop classes are full now, but there are a few spots still open, and there’s always the afternoon sessions, too, if you want to register<\/span><\/a>.<\/p>\n
