\"Once<\/a>On Thursday I attended the book launch for Sara Zarr’s new novel Once Was Lost<\/em><\/span><\/a>.\u00a0 It was a wonderful event, with a reading and a Q&A, and beautiful cookies and a birthday cake.\u00a0 Afterward, some of us went out to eat and had a really nice time.<\/p>\n

I was going to do a write-up on the event, but Sara has a really cool video diary entry here<\/span><\/a>, and Brodi Ashton has a funny take on it here<\/a><\/span>, with photos.\u00a0 They both do a better job than I would.<\/p>\n

I’ve started reading Once Was Lost<\/em>.\u00a0 I started it the night of the signing, and intended to just read a few pages.\u00a0 Well, 50 pages later I was still wide awake and loving it.\u00a0 The main character’s voice and story simply captivated me, and are still captivating me.\u00a0 And Sara’s prose is flawless.\u00a0 I’m going to get back to reading it after I’ve posted this.\u00a0 You should check it out.<\/p>\n

My brother sent me the link to this awesome… tribute?… to Carl Sagan.\u00a0 The video is comprised of some of the best lines from his show, Cosmos<\/em>, modulated to music.\u00a0 I watched Cosmos<\/em> when I was in elementary school and I loved it.\u00a0 Sagan approached the stars with both science and poetry, and I thought his “spaceship” was about the coolest thing ever.\u00a0 You can now watch the entire series on Hulu here<\/span><\/a>.\u00a0 But in the meantime, here’s that tribute.<\/p>\n
