Quantum League Book 1: Spell Robbers

>>> UpdateI get a LOT of email and blog comments asking when the second book in the series will be out. I wish I had a definitive answer. I can tell you I’ve written the second book, and my publisher has it, but it’s up to them when it comes out. The best thing to do is to tell your local bookseller you’re ready for it and you want it. <<<

A “high-energy spy story.” – Kirkus

“Kirby infuses this action-packed spy thriller with layers of moral ambiguity… This first book in the Quantum League series provides satisfying partial closure, while intriguing storylines to be developed will leave readers eager for the next installment.” – Publishers Weekly

After Ben Warner is recruited to join a “science camp” led by the eccentric quantum physicist Dr. Madeleine Hughes, he quickly realizes it’s no regular science camp. Along with his new friend, Peter, Ben discovers the secret, powerful art of Actuation–the ability to change reality by simply imagining it differently.

When a mysterious group of men invade Dr. Hughes’s laboratory, abducting her and stealing her precious equipment, Ben and Peter are suddenly caught up in a turf war between dangerous actuators desperate for Dr. Hughes’s innovative technology. And as Ben and Peter are pulled into a perilous, hidden world full of impossibilities now made possible, will their combined powers be enough to save Dr. Hughes and vanquish their enemies before it’s too late?

From Edgar Award-winning author Matthew J. Kirby comes a fast-paced, boldly imagined tale of friendship, deadly adventure, and the infinite power of imagination.

  7. I commented 8 months ago and just came back to see any updates. I NEEEEED THIS other book. You are a great author and those darn publishers need to give you your stuff back so that we can all finally get the final books of the trilogy.(maybe you could make it longer than that ;))

  8. Hello! I read Spell Robbers when it first came out about four years ago and I’m STILL interested even though I’m a Junior in high school and this is way below my reading level.

I would love to read the sequel, but it’s been four years since the book came out. Is there something going on with the publisher? Have you shelved the project (no pun intended)? Are you working on other projects right now?

Just asking for an update, that’s all.

  10. Nine year old grandson is currently reading it. He loves to read, and he seems to really like it.

  11. Mr. Matthew Kirby,

I’ve read this book as a 5th grader in 2014. I’m a high school junior (11th grader) now and it’s been a whopping 5 years! Matthew Kirby told me a year ago on his twitter that he was pretty much finished with the book but his publisher had it and he said he was considering taking it back to another publisher since that one was taking too long to provide release date.

It’s been a year since that time, I wonder what’s holding the book back from being released.

Please update us with the situation Kirby! I personally don’t mind if we still have some waiting to do, but knowing the you’re working to get it out really helps!

    Thank you,
    – Daunlan Young

  12. At this point it’s more of a joke when asking for a second book it’s been more than 5 years I read this in middle school and hoped all through high school and have resigned myself to know that this book will never come out

  13. To start with congratulations on the message. This is an excellent one however customarily it appears that a lot of individuals talking about it have not read past the initial paragraph. I appreciate you making the effort to update us on this and will certainly return regularly to check for anymore details.

  14. So it’s almost 2020 and the second book isn’t here yet! Been waiting a while but thanks for the first and take your time! Just wondering if you know when your publisher or editor says it’s ready to be out their!

  15. Please publish the second book NOW! I can’t wait I’m rereading this book over and over and I love it so much!

  16. Sorry for my language before, but what if the publishers are holding on to all the books until MatthewJK is done so they can release all the books together, so they don’t have to deal with the crap of people saying they want their books to read ( this took me 5 years to realize)

  17. Hi I am a 17 year old high school student who has had your spell robbers book for a long time and I am really hoping you will write a second one at some point soon since you called this book 1. I have read the book at least 50 times over the years since I got it from my school book fair and I really enjoy but would be overjoyed if wrote another one. Please just at least consider the option of writing a second one since the way you ended spell robbers still left so much to be desired. Thank you for listening to me and hearing out my voice you are a fantastic writer and I hope that you are having a good day when ever you read this, Good morning/Good night.

  26. I read the first book like 5 years ago and its one of the few books I’ve always been able to remember just because of how much it fascinated me back then and today my mom asked me to find a book or book series to order off of amazon so i could be a bit more productive and spend less time in front of computer screen cause of quarantine, and after two hours of trying to remember the title, im bad at remembering a lot of things, i found it and now im a little sad that the second one never got published
