The Clockwork Three ~ book trailer, interview, and website

I’m so excited to share with you the official trailer that Scholastic created for The Clockwork Three!

And here’s an interview with me.  I love the music and images they’ve paired with the words.

And finally, Scholastic has created a website for the book, which you can find here (I’ll also post all of this on The Clockwork Three page here on the Kirbside blog).

Hope you enjoy!

  1. Matt! You’re a natural on camera! And how great is that book trailer! I love it all, but especially the part where the clockwork parts turn into violins. The people who made that really get your book. Congratulations!

  2. Hi Matt! This is an amazing video and probably my favorite book trailer I’ve seen! Congrats!

I also wanted to let you know that I’m hearing tons and tons of buzz about your book lately and even just found out that I’m great friends with Carrie Brown-Wolf who is in your critique group! Small world, huh?

Anyway, the best of luck! I’m eagerly awaiting my copy in the mail 🙂

    • Thanks, Lindsay! I’m glad you like the book trailer. And it’s nice to hear that there’s a ton of buzz going on.

Carrie is so nice. We’ve only met in person once, but we’ve exchanged manuscripts in the past. It is a small world, but even smaller in kidlit!

  3. Thankyou for this book. We recently perchased this for our library, and it intregued me. After reading , there has to be another. What adventures does Guiseppe have after he leaves with Yakov and Madam Pomeroy. Where did there story begin, why are they on the move. Please write another.

    • Hi, D’Atra. I do hope to one day write a sequel, and I think it would answer some of your questions about the green violin, Madame Pomeroy, and Yakov.

  4. I can’t stop thinking about the book im so sad i finished. I hope you make another one because i think they all should meet up again and go on another exiting adventure together. that book was my favorite book ever and I’m 11 and I started a book club in my class and everyone in my class is now reading your book! They all told me to write to you and tell you to write another book on the clockwork three!

  5. I was hired by Scholastic to do the voice of Giuseppe for the book trailer. I am disappointed to see they didn’t use my recording. 🙁

  6. Hey, everyone in my class is waiting for you to write a new book about “The Clockwork Three!” They think Guiseppe is very outgoing. They love your book and want you to write a new one. Now we are reading some of the authors that have books realated to yours. But none of them compare to your great skill of writing and setting and well all of the things you need in a great book. We have been discusing how all these books compare to “The Clockwork Three.” But we did a vote and none of them are better then your book. We have also been talking about what you should write for your next book. Well, we did some thinking and decided it should be about how Guiseppe and Yakov and Madam, Pomroy go on lots of adventures. Like what do they do there. And they should go back to visit Hannah and Fredrick. Maby when Guiseppe goes back to visit them Hannah and Fredrick could be dating or something like that. And maby Guiseppe wouldnt like the fact that Hannah and Fredrick have been dating and he would get uppset. So guiseppe would do anything to get back to the way they were before. (Just friends.) So i’m just making up things off the top of my head, so if you decide to use one of my idea’s in you next “Clockwork Three” book please tell me! My E-mail is cbriggs928@comcast.net. Oh and just for the record you said the age group your trying to reach is 11-12 well im almost twelve. So I love the book and please ,please please please please write a new one. 🙂

    • Hi, Cailin! Thanks for your comment, and for letting me know how much you and your class liked reading THE CLOCKWORK THREE. That’s very flattering, and I can see from your ideas that you have a great imagination.

I have a new book coming out in October, but it’s not a sequel to THE CLOCKWORK THREE. It’s story about Vikings, and I hope you like it.

  7. Hello Matthew!!
I work part-time at an elementary school. We had a book fair and I bought your book, “The Clockwork Three”. I just finished reading it this morning. It is such a good book! I loved reading it! I was sad when I finished it. I wanted to know more and read more. I will pass the book along to someone I know will love it as much as I do! My neice. She will appreciate it so much. They don’t have much money to go around in their family. She borrows books from me often.
Also, I just turned 59 but I see my inner reader is still 12, as well!! It’s not a bad thing!! Thank you for the wonderful entertainment of reading and I am looking forward to reading more of your works!

    • Thank you, Dorothy. I can’t think of a better compliment than recommending the book to someone else, especially your niece. I hope you enjoy my new book, Icefall.

  8. I just finished the book and I think it’s my new favorite! I hope you do write a sequel for it. I was wondering, did you bring up any historical references in the novel?

    • Glad you liked it, Maddii! Several references in the novel are indeed historical. The Magnus Head, for example, is something taken from history. So is the inspiration for the character of Giuseppe.

  9. I have to say this is one pretty cool book. I haven’t finished it quite, but I am certainly getting close. I like to write my own stories, so do you think you could give me any tips? It would be greatly appreciated! I really hope you write a sequel to this book because from what I have read so far, is getting me hooked to read another!

    • Tips for writing? Absolutely. The best thing you can do is write and read something every day. Some days you might only write a few words, or read a few pages, but it’s important to get into the habit now! Good luck to you!

  10. I just recently finished you book, and enjoyed it incredibly! I really hope you create a sequel for this magnificent novel. My absolute favorite character(s) were Giuseppe and Madame Pomeroy. I loved how Giuseppe persevered and faced his many difficulties and how you never knew what Madame Pomeroy was going to say next-which made the novel more interesting to read. Thank you so much for creating such a great read!

  11. I just finished this book and it was AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!! I loved it !!!!!!!!!!!! All the characters tied in nicely and it was a great plot! I really hope you write a sequel because this book is too good to not have one

  12. I found The Clockwork Three an enthralling plot with many twists and turns. I’ve read the story twice and it never gets boring. It was certainly the BEST book I have ever read!! I loved how the characters’ lives were intertwined and how loyal they were to one and another. I love all three of the main characters equally. Brilliant work Matthew J. Kirby!

If I had to rate this book I would give it a 10/10! The Clockwork Three is so amazing and I would really, really hope that you’d consider creating a sequel. That would be TERRIFIC! Also, since this book is so outstanding, I think the film industry should create a movie based on The Clockwork Three!

  13. Hello, I have just finished reading the book and I absolutely loved it! I had gotten the book at a book fair and my mother had bought it, but i wasn’t planning on reading it. I am so glad i did though the detail and the description of everything made me have to read again because of beautifully written, it was. I can’t wait to learn about Giu’s adventure. Please write the sequel, I can’t wait…

  14. This is one of the best books I have ever read. There is a magnificent story line and how the stories of all the characters twine together to make a wonderful ending. You are a phenomenal writer. I hope to see you one day make a sequel. There is no doubt in my mind that you would be able to write it. Your books are fantastic.

  15. Hi.. I’m from Indonesia..
My best friend give this novel to me on my birthday.. But I just finish read it recently. And it was amazing.. I love the unpredictable story.. Also the way you make Giu, Freddy and Hannah met is really interesting. I am fall in love with this book.. <3 However, I was curious about Madame Pomeroy (why she have enemy?) and Yakov and the green violin… I hope you will make the sequel of this book.. Thank you .. 😀

    • Hello! Thank you so much! I’ve thought about a follow-up story, and it would answer more about Madame Pomeroy, Yakov, and the Green Violin. A lot of mystery there! 😉
